Ladybug, ladybug fly away home.
Your house is on fire and your children are gone.

It's said that the ladybug brings with her, good fortune.
If she lands on your hand or dress and is allowed to
fly away on her own, she will leave you with
very good luck.

Have you been seeing Ladybugs around and about
in the garden this Spring?
I've encountered quite a few already
this year.

Ladybugs, also known as Ladybirds in the UK, Ireland,
and Australia are actually not a bug or bird at all.
They are however a member of the
beetle family and in most cases a friend
to the gardener.
They love to feast on aphids and scale insects.

This gardener is wishing you much luck
in the garden this year.

I am a big fan of the color yellow

but recently when I passed a storefront
featuring a group of yellow prom and pageant gowns
I had to ask myself...
would you wear that?

The yellow dress has had a long standing
in fashion over the years,
breezing in and breezing out.

How many of you own and wear
a little yellow dress?

I bet it's been a while since you've put one on.
My sister had yellow bridesmaids dresses
and I swear that's the last time I can remember
wearing a yellow dress.

I think little girls look darling in yellow.

Some big girls, Victoria Beckham here has no
problem carrying it off.

The young, like "Gossip Girl",
Taylor Momsen makes it look easy.

Women of color tend to look more exotic
in the color yellow.

As for me...
I'll have none of it.
I'm sticking to accessories for my
yellow fix.

Three things I love ...

...because Attic 24 makes me smile.

...because I imagine these steps lead to Heaven.

...because it's a table to die for.

I love to surf the web for images that
move me. These are three that
made an impact this week.

All three...delightful!

Touches of Spring and Easter

I just love it when Spring comes to town.

Is there anything better than bringing fresh
blooming twigs into the home?
A good way to prolong their life,
smash the woody ends with a hammer or
brick to increase the amount of
water they take in.

I know they can't last long...
but boy, while they're here.

I keep it pretty simple.
Just touches here and there.

Mr. Bunny will be on post for
a month or so.

The great thing about using tree limbs,
when they die you can go cut more.

Happy gardening and Happy Spring.

My latest project.

Has anyone had any experience with air plants?

I ordered six little plants over the Internet
from Deltona Seashells & Gifts.

They arrived safe and sound packed in brown bags
and labeled as I requested.

Baileyi Tillandsia
There are so many to choose from,
I didn't have a clue.
I just decided on a random selection
and go from there.

Stricta Tillandsia
This one arrive with a bloom already
in place...
...I wonder how long it will last.

Ionantha Tillandsia
These were only 90 cents
so I got three.

Ever since I saw an article in last year's
"Home and Garden"
Christmas issue, I've been fascinated.

They featured them as a Christmas ornament.
I originally thought I'd do them next year
but I wanted to play around with them now.

I Googled Air Plants on Blogger and came across
a great post on "Modish".
I stole her idea of buying globes from CB.

The globes are actually for tea lights, but
they are perfect for air plants as well.

I added some sand and small pebbles for interest.

Some sources say to mist them weekly
others say to dunk them in water and give
them a shake. Everything I've read suggests
using non-chlorinated water.

I hope to hang them somewhere...
but I'm not there yet.

The meaning of tulips...
...generally perfect love.

Red tulips: True Love

Purple tulips: Royalty

White tulips: Forgiveness

Yellow tulips: Cheerful thoughts and Sunshine.

Tulips, not too elegant, too romantic, too big, too small, or too bright,
the tulip is always just right.

Here's hoping yours and mine look as beautiful this year.
